When Should You Send Your Wedding Invitations?

After months (and sometimes years with recent pandemic postponements) of wedding planning, sending out the invitations can feel like a major accomplishment. Basically your way of saying “It’s Go Time!” to your guests. So, when’s the right time to do it? Let’s find out!

8 Weeks Will Seal the Deal

Etiquette tells us the ideal time to spread out your big day's news is 6-8 weeks before. It gives enough time to everyone to prepare, plan, and come over. Plus, it also gives you a deadline in which you have to put a full stop to all your pending preparations. You’ll want to put an RSVP date on the reply card that is 1 week prior to the date your final counts are due to the venue or caterer. This will give you a little time to go after those delinquent late responders.

Remember Your International Pals

If you have guests coming over from abroad, send them your wedding invites 12 weeks before. Give them time to manage their flights, schedules, and bookings, so they come for your big day with full preparation and enjoy it like it’s supposed to.

If you’re not in the mood to share your special printed and designed cards a long time before, you can just ping them up so they can pack their bags in time. And then, send the wedding invitations later with all others.

When it comes to destination weddings, send your invitations 4 months before the day, so your invitees have time to plan, respond and arrange everything.

The Bottom Line

At the end of the day, weddings are like bags filled with candies. No matter how tense you are right now about the preparations, wedding invitations, etc., you’ll end up savoring your candies with no worries.
