To Elope or to Party?
The wedding boom is real! It is the surge that the wedding industry is seeing after a year ++ of downsized events. And honestly, as a wedding planner here in Boston, I’m grateful for it. But maybe (through my rose colored glasses) I’m also feeling proud and nostalgic for the intimate events we pulled off during this last crazy year. Like helping this gorgeous bride create an elopement ceremony in her (stunning) dining room in her Chestnut Hill home with only her now husband and their officiant present. Because her family couldn’t travel to be at the wedding from overseas she said to me, “If my mum can’t be beside me on my wedding day, then I don’t think that anyone else should be either.” For the record, I’m not encouraging an elopement….I want everyone who wants to party to go out there and throw the biggest shindig that they can dream up (ahem….I can help!)…but for some, an in-home or backyard wedding fits the bill. Just like it did for T&D’s wedding. And I’m here for that too. To create the design we cleared out the dining room and then brought in large mirrors, throw blankets, and tons of lanterns and candles. I decorated the hoop with vines from their garden, dried pampas grass and some hydrangea. Sharing some of my favorite shots from the room….all taken with my iPhone!
