The 3 Essential Steps For Wedding Planning

How To Start Your Wedding Planning

Proper planning helps create a smooth big day. But not all couples are great when it comes to wedding planning. And that's okay. This very reason allows me to become the Ms. Norbury of weddings (just existing to push you towards your dream wedding). Know that I’ve got your back in preparing for your celebration with this step-by-step guide!

Setting the Budget

Before even fantasizing about your wedding dress, you need to set your budget first. By knowing how much you have to work with, you'll have an idea of how to proceed with everything else. Be as realistic as possible when doing so. Don't worry if it seems like your budget isn't enough for what you imagine your event should be. It can still be possible with someone who knows the steps on how to plan a wedding and effectively use your budget.

Never select your venue before creating your budget…you need to be sure to select a location that will leave you with enough budget left over for all of the “extras”- flowers, music, food! Shown here: a beautiful September wedding at Willowdale Estate.

Finalize Guest List

You should know the number of guests before proceeding with your wedding planning. Finalizing your guest will help you choose your venue, ceremony and reception setting, floral decor, type of catering services, and even the number of wedding favors you need to prepare. To avoid changing these things after finally finding one, settle your guest list first.

Every guest impacts the decisions you will need to make: venue capacity, cost of place settings, day-of stationery and more! Be sure to start with an accurate list of everyone you want to invite (and assume for about 15% attrition) before making any decisions!

Get a Wedding Planner

Attempting to do everything by yourself is a daunting task. You should get help even if you already have an idea of how to plan a wedding. Most couples might have an idea of how, but don't know where to begin. Getting a pro will help you start properly, even help you create a handy wedding day timeline. In essence, a planner guides you in every step to make sure that you utilize your budget efficiently and have a stress-free experience. Experts (like me!) can help you create a perfect and epic day.
