Stationery Hacks for the Low-Key Bride

3 Tips to Streamline Your Wedding Stationery

Wedding stationery is always so much more of a beast to deal with during the wedding planning process than most couples ever anticipate.  The good news is that it doesn’t have to be so complicated.  There are some great hacks for the low-key bride to streamline and simplify the process.

Love this example from Fete Collection’s Semi Custom line.

  • GO SEMI-CUSTOM: For clients who love stationery (i.e. specialty printing styles like letterpress or foil, high-end, handmade papers) I recommend asking custom stationers for SEMI-CUSTOM options. This means they will take fabulous designs they’ve already created, but customize them to you with different colors, fonts, etc. It’s not usually something they advertise on their website, but most are happy to do it. The end product still feels super luxe and will make a big impact for guests, but you get to wipe out the lengthy timeline needed for custom designs. This means instead of starting the process 3 months before the invites need to go to print, you can really get the whole thing done in around 3 weeks prior to print date.

  • Do a ONE-CHOICE meal option: Think about it. If you were inviting guests over to your house for a dinner party, you wouldn’t ask them 8 weeks in advance what they’d like to have. Instead, everyone would have the fabulous meal you have selected to serve. I am a HUGE fan of doing the same for weddings. It’s actually a more traditional and formal approach to service AND removes the headache of tracking each guest’s meal selection and relaying those selections to the caterer.

  • Go Electronic for the Save the Dates: For an easy-to-please couple who is not “married” to the idea of paper for every piece of their wedding stationery, I’m a fan of electronic save the dates . Saving cost, time and trees is always a win. The save-the-dates are traditionally a less formal piece anyway, so if going electronic feels right to you, go for it! You can link guests directly to your wedding website with everything they need. Greenvelope & Paperless Post both have great options that you can get created & sent in less than an hour!
