Ready to Plan Your Boston Wedding…. Now What??

Introducing Kick-Start Services

Yippppeeeee for vaccines!  So I get it, we were off to a rocky start with the roll-out but as of early February the US is averaging around 1.5 million vaccines per day, which means even without additional vaccines hitting the market (no pressure Johnson & Johnson) the US will hit herd immunity by mid-summer.  So aside from the small perks like the world regaining normalcy, schools opening up, salvation for the economy, yadda yadda yadda, the big take away here is that you can ACTUALLY start planning your wedding! Priorities are important.

Woohoo!  Let the planning begin!  Photo by Kate McElwee

So for anyone recently engaged, you may be wondering what the actual f*** you should be doing first when it comes to wedding planning.   For many, the answer is very obviously to contact a wedding planner.  From being in this industry for the past 15+ years (I know, can you believe I was only 10 when I started wedding planning?!? 😊), I can tell you that from the bottom of my heart, I believe Boston has the most AMAZING full-service planners ever created.  Seriously, there is a regime of bad-ass bitches that will plan/create/design/execute the most stunning experience you could ever imagine.  What I’ve learned over the years, however, is that this luxury service of having a wedding planner isn’t for everyone.  Maybe it doesn’t fit in your budget, maybe you were hoping to do more yourself, or maybe, at the beginning of your planning journey, you just don’t know what you need yet.

Time to start wedding planning! Wondering where the hell you are supposed to start?? (disclosure: not one of my previous brides)

I’ve been thinking about this conundrum for years- how to help the people who want or NEED the planning help but for whatever reason aren’t comfortable or able to bring on a full-service planner.  A common “solution” has been the Day-Of Wedding Planner (though there is no real such thing as only coming in for “day-of”). There are great professionals who will get involved around 1-2 months prior to the Big Day to clean up any messes made during the planning process, tie-up loose ends, and help to execute a seamless wedding day. And while someone to come into help with the homestretch and execution of the wedding IS an often much-needed service, it still doesn’t help the bride or groom who is at the beginning of their process saying, WHERE DO I START?

Are you now thinking, “Erin, cut to the chase already, just tell me what you are proposing here?” If you are asking that, then maybe no one told you that blogs should average around 1200 words.  But don’t mind if I do. I’m seriously kick-you-in-the-crotch, spit-on-your-neck, fantastically excited (will today’s brides get my Friends references?) to announce that I am now offering what I call “Kick Start Wedding Consulting” services.  Here is what that means: I offer full service planning to get the ball rolling. I use my years of expertise & contacts in the industry to act as architect to draw up the wedding blue prints. I’ll give you the venue, the vendors, and the vision and then hold your hand for the rest of the planning process.  After an initial consulting call, we begin Phase 1 where I work to create your custom wedding budget along with a planning timeline (this tells you exactly what should happen and when).  I’ll lead the venue and key vendor search to present to you the best available options within the budget, style and parameters we discussed.  Once these pieces are completed (average is around 1-2 months), we move into Phase 2 of the planning where you take the reins to follow through the planning guide we created in Phase 1.  We will have regular consulting check-in calls where I will help troubleshoot any issues you are having and keep you accountable for all of the to-do items on the planning guide through the remainder of the planning period.  During Phase 2 I also work to create a minute-by-minute Event Timeline to help create the perfect plan for the day that can be shared with vendors and will help source any additional “day-of” planning and production help should this be needed.

Wedding planning should be fun (really!).  Having a professional who knows the market inside and out can help you feel good about the big decisions, get you off to a clean and stress-free start, and really pave the way for a smooth and enjoyable ride.  I really am so excited to hold your (virtual) hand to help navigate the process! So send me an email, a DM or an SOS flare and we can talk through a plan that works for you. xo
